I am the girl whose glass is half full

Saturday, 16 August 2008 3:27 P GMT-06

Lazy Saturday.  I went out yesterday for happy hour with some co-workers.  Clare met up with us later.  Good times were had and nobody lost their clothes.  I just finished watching the NEWS 2007-2008 Pacific Tour DVD.  It was pretty awesome.  The second disc seemed to be very Kato-centric, but that is fine with me.

So, it may be a bit early to say this, but November is going to rock.  More specifically, my birthday week is going to rock.  Yesterday I bought Dir en Grey tickets!!!  They will be playing here on 11/20.  Then it's my birthday, then the rescheduled Nine Inch Nails concert is on 11/25. *dies*  So much excitement in one week.  I feel like making a cake early.

Oh, Summer! I hardly knew thee....

Monday, 11 August 2008 8:43 P GMT-06

Another month, another entry!  It seems to be going that way doesn't it.  I've hardly had any dreams at all this month.  The ones I have had are fleeting and too vague to attempt to type in any kind of coherency.  I am in mourning for the summer, which isn't dead yet but might as well be.  I am looking forward to autumn for when I have things to do.  I haven't been out of the cities all summer and that pretty much sucks.  On the bright side, I got my property tax refund today. *happy*  Plus I bought an external hard drive to hold all my j-dramas.  I am hopelessly addicted to them.  There's no cure!!

So I have been desperately scrambling over the internets to find people who translate NEWS j-webs.  Zephy from lj has taken an extended hiatus due to schooling and I haven't been able to find anyone who consistantly or robustly translates the j-webs.  Ah~! Life is tough for foreign fans!! *cries into the internet*  Yamashita posts short entries, but he does it everyday.  Koyama's are adorable to read and Kato's entries make me cry from laughing so hard.  It's incredibly entertaining and fun to know what they are up to everyday.  So that is my sad sad story, yo.

Floppy Corpse fails Hemocrite

1% away from passing!  I went to donate blood today at work, but only had 37% iron and you have to have 38%. *frownies*  So my blood will remain my own for a while.  Ah~ you must be thinking 'how generous to donate this life saving fluid..this will make a child smile, an old lady laugh, a doggy wag its tail..'    Well, it's all lies.  I went for my own selfish reasons!  I wanted to find out my blood type because I don't know it!  People say "oh! You don't know your blood type??!"  No I don't!  I even asked my mom and she doesn't know it either.  Hey! you gave birth to me and you don't know what it is?

It seems like an important thing to know about yourself.

I will eat iron rich foods and go on my own maybe later this week.

Ganbare Kato Shigeaki

Tuesday, 8 July 2008 10:04 P GMT-06
I have declared this week is officially Kato Shigeaki week since it's his birthday on friday.
This weekend was filled with dramas.  Terebi doramas.  Last week was the start of new drama season in Japan, so I have lots to do.  I thought  I could hold out on watching Code Blue until Clare returned from her vacation, but my resolve broke easily once I saw there were soft subs already available.  It's a good show!  A very secret part of me is happy for the Yamashita fanservice they throw in.....for good measure I am sure.  BUT, since it's ShigeWeek, I am going to watch Hokaben and Busu no Hitomi ni Koishiteru.  Probably not all in one week, but by the end of the weekend for sure.
In other news, my benevolent government has sent me a check to do with as I please.  I do please very much and have laid great plans for it's disbursement.

3 day weekends are Teh Best

Saturday, 5 July 2008 12:29 P GMT-06

Ah~ the mid-summer long weekend.  I am enjoying the not-being-at-work bit, but haven't made plans to actually do something.  I didn't even go watch fireworks last night.  how un-patriotic of me.  *shrugs*  I did housework and watched a few episodes of Hanayome wa Yakudoshi.  Keiichiro <3

Eat that, bitches.

Your result for The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test...

Modern, Cool Nerd

For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd.

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!

Congratulations!
